I hold a Diploma in Electrical Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens, Greece (1987), an MSc in Digital Signal Processing from the University of Virginia, USA (1990) and a PhD from the National Technical University of Athens, Greece (1994) in Digital Signal (Speech) Processing & Pattern Recognition. I am a tenured professor with 25-year experience in research and education in the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, University of West Attica, where I also direct the MSc by Research in Electrical and Electronics Engineering program. Previously I have been a professor, Head of the Department and Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, in the Department of Electronics Engineering, Piraeus University of Applied Sciences (1998-2018). I have (co-)authored two textbooks and over 100 research publications in the fields of Digital Signal Processing, Spectral Analysis, Pattern Recognition and their applications in Speech/Audio, Environmental and Biomedical Engineering. Besides these areas, my current research interests include e-learning technologies, educational data mining and learning analytics.
