The European Patent Academy is the external education and training arm of the European Patent Office. Its mandate reflects the need to improve intellectual property training and education structures in Europe.

The MSc in Artificial Intelligence and Deep Learning in collaboration with EPA are offering course seminars to teach you how to protect inventions, bring them to market and provide you with valuable insights.

Description A course by the European Patent Office (EPO)

  • Target group: Master’s students interested in innovation, intellectual property (IP), and bringing inventions to market.
  • Structure:
    • Two levels – Entry and Advanced.
    • Each level includes five self-paced modules.
  • Content highlights:
    • Real-life stories of inventors, many linked to the European Inventor Award.
    • Focus on how and why inventions are patented.
    • Insights into integrating intellectual property rights (IPRs) into business strategies.
  • Learning format:
    • High-quality videos, podcasts, and interactive elements.
    • Exercises, case studies, and multiple-choice quizzes at the end of each module.
    • Additional resources for further study.
  • Assessment:
    • Final exam marked by IP experts to test overall knowledge.
  • Access and schedule:
    • Available through the e-learning centre of the European Patent Academy.
    • Students can choose between two available dates for each live session.
    • Live sessions: 16:00–17:30 CET.
  • Interaction and support:
    • Tutored forums, interactive live sessions, and access to IP professionals.
  • Certification:
    • Completion of all required activities earns an official EPO certificate.
    • The end of the course is marked by the final day students can download their certificate.
